2012年2—8月南极埃默里冰架附近海域水团及高密度水分布

摘要:

利用澳大利亚海洋集成观测系统(IMOS)安装在21只南象海豹头顶的自动温盐深观测仪(CTD-SRDLs)收集的2012年2-8月期间的温、盐度剖面资料,研究了埃默里冰架附近海域水团及高密度水分布。结果表明:2012年夏末至冬季研究海域水团主要由9个水团组成,其中次低温、低盐的南极表层水(或南极冬季表层水)主要分布在50m以浅;次高温、低盐的普里兹湾次表层水处于水深50~200m间的逆温层内;水深200m以下,埃默里冰架前缘及陆架区主要由低温、高盐的普里兹湾陆架水和冰架水控制;次高温、高盐的普里兹湾底层水出现在陆架区300m以深水域,几乎同一深度的陆坡区,则为高温、高盐的绕极深层水盘踞。埃默里冰架前缘由高盐陆架水和高盐冰架水混合形成的高密度水体,在普里兹湾内顺时针环流的驱动下,呈现了从埃默里冰架前缘向北(或西北)穿过陆架/陆坡区域进入深海大洋的迹象,并在陆架/陆坡区与涌升的绕极深层水混合,形成普里兹湾底层水。

Abstract:

Temperature and salinity profile data,from February to August in 2012,which were obtained by the autonomous CTD-Satellite Relay Data Loggers(CTD-SRDLs)installed on 21 elephant seals of the Integrated Marine Observing systems(IMOS),are used to study distributions of water masses and high density water near the Amery Ice Shelf.Our results show that there are primarily nine water masses in the study area during late summer through Antarctic winter,sub-low temperature and low salinity Antarctic Surface Water(AASW)mainly distributing above 50 mdepth;sub-high temperature and low salinity Prydz Bay Subsurface Water(PBSSW)located in the inversion thermocline layer between 50~200 mdepth;below 200 mdepth,the front of the Amery Ice Shelf and shelf area are mostly dominated by the low temperature and High Salinity Shelf Water(HSSW)and High Salinity Ice Shelf Water(HSISW);sub-high temperature and high salinity Prydz Bay Bottom Water(PBBW)observed below 300 mdepth in the shelf area,and the continental slope area with almost the same depth being occupied by the high temperature and high salinity Circumpolar Deep Water(CDW).The high density water which is formed by the mixing of the HSSW and HSISW presents a sign of moving from the front of the Amery Ice Shelf,through the continental shelf/slope area and getting into the deep ocean,and it mixes with the upwelling CDW in the continental shelf/slope area,forming the PBBW.
